Yes, the omicron variant is crazy, but here’s the good news

Let’s start with the good news. Christmas is just a few days away, and while many see it as an opportunity to get stuff, I see it as a chance to get hope. To know that there’s more to life than what we can buy in a store. More to life than what we can get from a website. More to life than what we can purchase or sell.

If we simply believe, there is hope beyond what we can see, think or feel. There is hope in the Christmas story. There is hope in the birth of that child.

And it’s a good thing, because we’re about to enter a tough season. With the pandemic entering a new phase and a new COVID variant spreading quickly, Dr. Anthony Fauci warned that the next few weeks will see severe stress on hospital systems as the omicron variant is “raging around the world.”

On Sunday’s “Meet the Press,” Fauci, President Biden’s chief medical adviser, said the omicron variant has “extraordinary capability” for transmission. Although omicron appears to have less severe symptoms in vaccinated people, Fauci warned that its transmissibility is the problem.

Unvaccinated people will probably fill hospitals as the virus spreads, he said, but we’ll likely see breakthrough infections in vaccinated people, too. The difference is it’s likely that the cases in vaccinated people won’t be as severe.

I’m urging everyone to make the decision that’s best for you. And I hope that in doing so, you’ll make the decision … to live.

I’m a huge Jalen Hurts fan, but this loss is on him. I know Scott fumbled and Reagor dropped that last pass, but you can’t throw 3 interceptions in a game. Hopefully he learns from this and stops forcing passes into coverage. #frustrating
The acquittal of #KyleRittenhouse opens the door for white vigilantes to kill anyone they want to. It also puts a spotlight on the judge’s biased actions during the trial.
God is so good. Two years ago today we founded @ManUpPHL with a citywide meeting on gun violence. Tonight we celebrate that with a dinner and strategy session with mentors and mentees who are working together to change lives. We are fully funded, we have committed volunteers, and we have a Listening to the Streets initiative that gets brothers off the streets and into jobs. This week we release our first white paper based on that program. We work to end gun violence one life at a time. Can’t wait to see what the next two years brings!
