Solomon Jones returns to WURD Radio and delivers commentary on 100.3 WRNB and Classix 107.9

Solomon Jones is on the move again.

This time it’s back to the airwaves of WURD 96.1 FM, Pennsylvania’s only black owned talk-radio station, where the Inquirer and Daily News columnist previously worked as a host from 2014 to 2017.

Starting May 6, Jones will host the Wake Up With WURD morning show, replacing current host, Aaron Smith, who will continue on with WURD by hosting the new WURD Show On the Go, also launching on May 6.

“Having both Solomon Jones and Dr. Aaron Smith on the WURD team will allow us to deepen our journalistic coverage and community engagement in ways that will be transformative for the station and the community,” Sara Lomax-Reese, WURD President and CEO, said a statement.

Jones said that he will maintain two roles with Radio One: Your Voice will continue to air a Saturday edition at 9 a.m. on Classix 107.9 FM and he will periodically offer social and political commentary on WRNB 100.3 FM.

I’m a huge Jalen Hurts fan, but this loss is on him. I know Scott fumbled and Reagor dropped that last pass, but you can’t throw 3 interceptions in a game. Hopefully he learns from this and stops forcing passes into coverage. #frustrating
The acquittal of #KyleRittenhouse opens the door for white vigilantes to kill anyone they want to. It also puts a spotlight on the judge’s biased actions during the trial.
God is so good. Two years ago today we founded @ManUpPHL with a citywide meeting on gun violence. Tonight we celebrate that with a dinner and strategy session with mentors and mentees who are working together to change lives. We are fully funded, we have committed volunteers, and we have a Listening to the Streets initiative that gets brothers off the streets and into jobs. This week we release our first white paper based on that program. We work to end gun violence one life at a time. Can’t wait to see what the next two years brings!
