Commissioner Charles Ramsey on Garner
On Thursday’s Wake Up With WURD on 900 am WURD, Solomon Jones interviewed Philadelphia Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey after a Staten Island, NY, Grand Jury decided not to indict Officer Daniel Pantaleo in the choking death of Eric Garner.
In the wake of the Michael Brown and Eric Garner decisions, Commissioner Ramsey has been tapped by President Obama as co-chair of the White House Task Force on 21st Century Policing, which will include law enforcement and community leaders. His fellow co-chair is Laurie Robinson, a professor at George Mason University and former assistant attorney general at the Justice Department. Their task is to make recommendations to the White House to make improvements to 21st Century policing.
