More multiracial families … less racism?

Between 2000 and 2010, Americans who reported multiracial backgrounds increased by 32 percent to 9 million. Will the increase in Americans with multiracial backgrounds help end racism? What do you think?

Last night I sat with my daughter and saw a little of American Idol. Harry Connick Jr. looked at one contestant said, “I’m curious. What’s your heritage?” To me she looked like she could have been partially black, but she said she was Italian and French Canadian. I wonder how many people wonder about such things and don’t have the guts to simply ask. I also wonder what difference one’s heritage should make.
