Donald Trump’s lies have led to a grand jury investigation in New York. Will there be an indictment?

There is unfinished business in America. Black folks must get reparations for slavery. Prisons must stop being replacements for plantations. And as we reflect on the anniversary of an infamous act of police brutality, we must pass the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act.

But not all of our unfinished business revolves around race. Some of it is simply about what’s right. And the right thing to do with a leader who betrays his oath to the country is to investigate the wrongdoing, find evidence to prove his crimes, and then mete out the punishment he deserves.

That’s why I was happy to hear that the Manhattan DA has convened a grand jury to hear testimony on Donald Trump’s business dealings, his alleged tax evasion, and his other crooked shenanigans. Jurors are expected to sit three days a week for three months while deciding whether to hand down an indictment.
Both local and state prosecutors in New York have been investigating Trump and top executives in his businesses for two years, so if they’ve empaneled a grand jury, they must believe they’ve got enough to consider charges, and you know what? I’m here for it.

Donald Trump conned his way onto the political stage with a five year lie about Barack Obama’s birth certificate. He lied and told the gullible that Mexico would pay for a wall. He lied about the coronavirus and almost six hundred thousand Americans are dead. He lied about an election he lost by seven million votes. Then his followers stormed the capitol, costing five people their lives.

This dude can’t be allowed back in the White House. Because as Donald Trump has shown us, lies provoke people. Lies hurt people. Lies kill people. So, if the Manhattan DA and New York Attorney General have to get him on taxes, that’s fine. Get him on something. Because if he’s allowed to come back to power, God will have to save America from itself.

I’m a huge Jalen Hurts fan, but this loss is on him. I know Scott fumbled and Reagor dropped that last pass, but you can’t throw 3 interceptions in a game. Hopefully he learns from this and stops forcing passes into coverage. #frustrating
The acquittal of #KyleRittenhouse opens the door for white vigilantes to kill anyone they want to. It also puts a spotlight on the judge’s biased actions during the trial.
God is so good. Two years ago today we founded @ManUpPHL with a citywide meeting on gun violence. Tonight we celebrate that with a dinner and strategy session with mentors and mentees who are working together to change lives. We are fully funded, we have committed volunteers, and we have a Listening to the Streets initiative that gets brothers off the streets and into jobs. This week we release our first white paper based on that program. We work to end gun violence one life at a time. Can’t wait to see what the next two years brings!
