A rally for injustice to take place in DC

The shadows of January 6th still linger. We see them on right wing news shows as commentators repeat the lies of Donald Trump. We hear them from state officials who want to run a phony election audit. And on Saturday, we’ll see it as thousands of people go to Washington to try to start more trouble.

They’re calling it Justice for J6, and it’s a rally by people who want to believe a boatload of lies. The first one is that Donald Trump won the election. But that’s a lie. He lost by more than 7 million votes. They want to believe that there was no assault on the capital on January 6th. But that’s a lie. Five people died that day. They want to believe the people who carried out the assault are political prisoners. But that’s a lie. They’re criminals who were in a crowd where people were chanting, “Hang Mike Pence.”

Unfortunately, the people coming to the capital on Saturday don’t want to believe the truth. And why would they? The so-called “Justice for J6” rally was organized by former Trump campaign operative Matt Braynard and his group Look Ahead America. The whole thing is born out of lies, but since they say they’re coming to show support for the violent mob that stormed the Capitol eight months ago, one thing is true. There’s a chance for more violence on Saturday.

The Department of Homeland Security warned that the threat of violence was real, and this time, I suspect the Capitol Police and other security forces will be ready.

Now the rest of us must get ready … get ready to protest, get ready to rally, get ready to vote. Because these people won’t stop until they’ve secured their vision of America … and that vision does not include us.

I’m a huge Jalen Hurts fan, but this loss is on him. I know Scott fumbled and Reagor dropped that last pass, but you can’t throw 3 interceptions in a game. Hopefully he learns from this and stops forcing passes into coverage. #frustrating
The acquittal of #KyleRittenhouse opens the door for white vigilantes to kill anyone they want to. It also puts a spotlight on the judge’s biased actions during the trial.
God is so good. Two years ago today we founded @ManUpPHL with a citywide meeting on gun violence. Tonight we celebrate that with a dinner and strategy session with mentors and mentees who are working together to change lives. We are fully funded, we have committed volunteers, and we have a Listening to the Streets initiative that gets brothers off the streets and into jobs. This week we release our first white paper based on that program. We work to end gun violence one life at a time. Can’t wait to see what the next two years brings!
